From 50 to 0-5 breathing interruptions per hour – in less than a year
In March 2024 I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea, in my case 50 AHI. After some time I was fitted with a nasal mask together with a CPAP machine to treat it.
However, the nasal mask and I never really got along. I developed a cough and found it difficult to keep the mask on during the night. At the same time, I had heard about IQoro and had actually bought one for my daughter, who had problems with mucus in her throat and needed to clear it frequently.
I read that it could also help with sleep apnea and felt I had little to lose by trying it.
At first I didn’t believe it worked
During the summer my training was somewhat inconsistent. I probably didn’t have the right technique and I also missed some sessions. Still, my husband said that I seemed to snore less. At the same time, I tried using a dental splint, but it caused discomfort and my dentist was also skeptical about it.
In the autumn of 2024 I lost my IQoro and was close to giving up. But then I decided to give it another chance, this time properly.
The results consistently indicated that the sleep apnea was more or less gone.
The turning point
From October 2024 and over the following year I trained consistently. I also realised that I needed to shape my lips more firmly rather than just pulling on the device. That’s when things started to improve. At the time I didn’t really know if it was working, but looking back I do feel that I became more energetic. During this period I also made another unsuccessful attempt with a full-face CPAP mask.
I was of course overjoyed – no more masks.
After about a year I bought an Apple Watch to track sleep apnea. The results consistently indicated that the sleep apnea was more or less gone. Still, I didn’t fully trust the Apple Watch. Perhaps it wasn’t entirely reliable after all.
But a few weeks ago I had a new measurement done by my healthcare provider. The result showed 0–5 AHI. I was of course overjoyed and felt completely relieved. No more masks.
Maintenance training once per day
Just to be safe, I maintain the results with at least one exercise per day. A very small effort.
For those who manage CPAP treatment well, it’s good that it exists. And perhaps IQoro doesn’t work for everyone, but I would definitely recommend giving it a proper chance. Stay consistent and be patient.
